Workers’ Of Ekiti State University Protests School Is Shut Down For Mass Retrenchment

The workers of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, have on Monday halted the academic activities of the institution due to the mass retrenchment that took place in the school in the school on the 5th December 2019.

Over 900 workers’ who have recruited during the era of Governor Ayodele Fayose between 2016-2017 have been sacked.

So, the workers affected were said to have possessed illegal certificates. Although, no physical violence was recorded as lecturers were said to have closed openings leading in and out of the university and chanting solidarity songs carrying placards.

However, the labour leaders urged Governor Kayode Fayemi to revisit the decision of the institution’s authority as evidence of industrial harmony.
