A Nigerian
and two Cameroonians will spend about 15-18 years in jail for cheating two
Vietnamese women to the tune over $65,800.

Mathew Anthony, Nigerian, 29 and Cameroonians Mothe De Fouda Paul Martial, 30,
Nguyen Hang Tcheuko Minh, 36, were sentenced to jail by the Can Tho People’s
Court in Southern Vietnam on Thursday 16th January for obtaining
property under pretense.
The men
joined a group of African fraudsters led by a man called Papa, who lure women
on Facebook and defraud them through several schemes.
One scheme
was to advertise a $100,000 solution that could be used to earn money through a
blank paper.
Another
scheme was to request Vietnamese women to receive and hold large sums of money
to be given to group members upon arriving in Vietnam.
The suspects
tricked a Vietnamese woman from the Can Tho and another from the Phu Yen
central province between December 2017 and April 2018
Martial and
Minh were arrested by the Can Tho Police on 6th April 2018 while
Anthony was arrested later.
Minh
acquired Vietnamese citizenship in 2013 and also played in the V league in
2015. Martial and Anthony said they were acting on Papa’s instruction while
Minh admitted to the crime.
However, the court sentenced Minh to 16 years, Martial 15 years, Anthony 18 years in prison respectively.
