Mohammed Goje, an investigative officer with the Economic and Financial crimes commission has given an account into how several bank accounts were discovered in the name of Faisal Maina, the son of the embattled Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is therefore prosecuting Maina’s son, Faisal over an allegation of fraud to the tune of N58million. EFCC accused him of operating accounts that were being used as conduits for illegal transactions.
Goje, while
presenting evidence before the court on Wednesday 11, 2019 explained that the
EFCC found out about one Alhaji Faisal Abdullahi Farma with UBA of which Faisal
is a co-signatory. He also said that Alhaji Faisal Farms is operated by
Abdulrasheed Maina and further investigation revealed that the account was
funded with proceeds from illegality.
The following companies were therefore discovered; Drew Investment&Construction Company LTD, Cruise City Ltd, Northridge Property Int’l Ltd, Mambilla Resorts. These companies have Faisal as a director.
“We also
found out that property at Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Kaduna was bought in the name of
Drew Investment & Construction Ltd. Another property was discovered at
Gombe Road, Borno State which was acquired in the name of Cruise City Ltd.
“A property
at 165, Life Camp, Abuja was acquired in the name Dr. Faisal Abdullahi, another
property at No 16e, Katuru Rd, Kaduna was also acquired in the name of Faisal
Abdullahi. Another at 3a, Sambo Road, Kaduna was bought in the name of Faisal
Abdullahi.
Also, Goje explained that his unit, the pension fraud team was established during the reign of Abdulrasheed Maina as the Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team which created to reform the pension office. He became a subject of investigation. The name of Faisal Maina featured during the investigation.
Also, the witness confessed that sometimes in September 2019, the commission received an intelligence report that Abdulrasheed Maina was in the country but did not know his whereabouts.

All-Star game has now to be called The Kobe Bryant MVP Award. NBA commissioner,
Adam Silver made this announcement on Saturday 15th February.
The Kobe
Bryant MVP Award will be given this Sunday at the closing of this year’s
All-Star Game in Chicago. Both teams will be captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo
and Lebron James respectively. Team Lebron will put on No 2 and team Giannis
will put on No 24. These two numbers were worn by Gianna, Kobe’s daughter and
Kobe Bryant.
Recall that
Kobe won the All-Star Game MVP in 2002, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Also, he played
as the youngest player to feature in the All-Star Game at 19 in 1998.
Modibbo Kawu, the DG of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been put on suspension by President Buhari. This came following his corruption charges by the Independent Corrupt Practices, ICPC.
This development was confirmed by Armstrong Idachaba, NBC’s Director of Broadcast Monitoring. Further, the most senior director in the commission has been directed to take over from Modibbo Kawu.
Modibbo Kawu is currently facing a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, abuse of office, and misleading a public officer with the intent of defrauding the government.
So, this contravenes Section 26 (1) (c) of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Act 2000 and punishable under Section 19 of the same Act.

The Health Ministry in Egypt has confirmed the first case of the deadly Coronavirus. The authorities made this disclosure on Friday 14th February in a press release. They said the World Health Organization has been informed and the patient is in isolation for monitoring and treatment.
The patient’s nationality was not given. However, Egypt is the 28th country in the world to record Coronavirus and the first in Africa.
