Phillip Osondu, A Former Nigerian Footballer Dies At 48

Phillip Osondu, a former Nigerian player has died. A family source said that the former footballer died in a Belgian Hospital where he had earlier gone to for check-up.

Osondu had complained on Thursday 12th December that he was not feeling well.

Born on 28th November 1971 in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. He played regularly for the Nigerian Youth teams, but unable to break into the senior national team.

In 1987, Phillip Osondu participated at the World U-16 championship in Canada where Nigeria played at the finals but lost on penalties to the Soviet Union.

Phillip Osondu won the World Cup Golden Ball as the tournament best player

He was 48-years old.
