NCAA probes how helicopter picked man stuck in traffic

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, is now probing the conditions that led to a man being airlifted from a busy road in Benin City, Edo State.

The NCAA held that its attention had been drawn to the recent incident which gained a lot of buzz on social media networks, thus leading to the rolling out of stories by most news portals.

In a recent video that went viral on social media, a helicopter was seen landing on a busy road between cars stuck in a traffic jam and picking up a yet to be identified man.

This incident which happened over the weekend is believed to have further slowed the jammed traffic condition on the said Benin-Ore road.

According to the NCCA, initial reports indicate that the helicopter belongs to Tropical Arctic Logistics Limited. And they had identified the operator of the aircraft which they said had engaged in an unscheduled diversion.

Meanwhile, the Spokesman, Sam Adurogboye, is said to have confirmed the helicopter with registration number 5N – BVQ and aircraft type AW139,

“The pilot was forced to land between Benin-Ore road in an unscheduled diversion to pick up someone,” Adurogboye stated.

He, however, said that findings from the investigation will be made known to the public as soon as it is concluded.
