The
department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned Alfa Babatunde, the General
Overseer of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Akure, Ondo State. It was done early on Monday
23 December 2019 before a magistrate court on two counts charge of kidnap and
felony.
The general
Overseer was arraigned alongside six others identified as Peter Anjorin, Esther
Kayode, Egunjobi Motunrayo, Grace Ogunjobi, Margaret Oyebola, and Omodara
Olayinka. The arraignment was linked to the missing of Kolawole Gold, a 1-year
boy at the church premises.
The boy’s mother had dropped him at the Sotitobire church’s crèche department but the boy went missing before the end of the service. Following an unconfirmed report that the boy was buried on the altar of the church, angry youth set the church on fire last week.
The
spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, said fake news led
to the burning of the church. Alfa Babatunde had earlier been arrested by the
DSS based on a petition concerning the missing child.
