Hauwa Lawal,
a 30-year-old housewife has been arrested by the police in Kano State for
allegedly pushing her co-wife Zuwaira Sani, 35 and her 18-month-old son into a
well.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna, spokesperson of Kano police command, while confirming the incident said that the police received a report on Friday 3rd January that the Hauwa had a misunderstanding with Sani and that during the disagreement, she pushed Sani into a well.
Sani had
that time had her baby on her back, so, she drowned but her baby survived the
incident.
“The suspect
had a misunderstanding with the victim, in the process they started fighting in
the house. The suspect pushed her rival along with her 18-month-old son,
Mustafa Gambo, whom she was backing into a well situated in their house.
Operation Puff-Adder swung into action and arrested the suspect on Saturday at
about 1:17 a.m.
“The victims
were removed from the well and were rushed to Rano Hospital where Sani was
confirmed dead, while her son is alive and has been discharged from the
hospital. The suspect confessed to the crime'' Haruna said
Therefore, he added that Hauwa would soon be
charged to court.

A man, 22, jumped into the lagoon from the third mainland bridge yesterday. The man identified as Daibo Toju Davies resides at 17, Sosanya street, Gbagada.
A report said that he had engaged the services of an Uber taxi from a hospital before the occurrence. He allegedly stopped the Uber on the bridge pretending to be having a running stomach before plunging into the lagoon.

Emergency Management Agency public affairs officer, Nosa Okunbor said they are
making efforts to rescue the man.
He said;
“He should be
in his mid-twenties. He ordered a car-hailing service from Gbagada to the
Island. He deceived the UBER driver that he had a running stomach after which
he jumped into the lagoon.
“As I
speak with you, the marine unit of the Lagos central zone has been searching
for the victim since 11:30 am, but we have not found the body.”
Two luggage
with his personal effects and affidavit were discovered on him.
