Female Clergy Remanded In Correctional Centre For N23 Fraud

Mercy Daniel Ogbonnaya, a female pastor has been remanded in the Port Harcourt prison after being arraigned by the EFCC before Justice I. M. Sani for N23 fraud.

The female pastor who was arraigned on a charge of getting money through false pretense which is against Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, was kept at the correctional centre on Thursday 23rd January.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission issued a statement that read;

Justice I. M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port
Harcourt, Rivers State has remanded Mercy Daniel Ogbonnaya, a pastor, in Port
Harcourt Correctional Centre for obtaining money by false pretense contrary to
Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and
punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.
The defendant was arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal office of
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today Thursday, January 23,
2020, on one count charge.
