Why I Won’t Appoint Anyone Older Than Me – Gov. Ben Ayade

The Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade has promised not to choose individuals older than himself to take over serious positions of responsibility in his government.

Ayade, who recently turned 52, made this known while he was clarifying why it was taking so much time to name his new commissioners and other appointees since his inauguration last May 29.

The governor, also said it was not in his temperament to talk cruelly to his seniors, he said he was unfit to yell at older members of his government in his first term.

“I am searching for more youthful individuals to appoint into my government. I will never again choose older people. I need more youthful individuals with the goal that I can yell at them so as to fast track my government.”

He, however, stated that the new secretary to the government soon to be appointed would be a young person.

Meanwhile, the previous Ms. Tina Agbor was a lot more seasoned than the governor, just as his deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, who was his former lecturer.

Ayade said “I want to work with a cabinet dominated by young technocrats I can be able to talk to and keep them on their toes,”
