The men of
the Ondo State Police Command have begun arresting residents suspected to have
taken part in the burning of the Sotitobire Miracle Centre in Akure on
Wednesday.
The church,
headed by Pastor Alfa Babatunde, was set ablaze by angry mob after news
filtered in that the body of a 1-year old boy who was declared missing since
November 2109 had been exhumed from the altar.
However, the police have arrested about 10-persons in relation to the Sotitobire incident. The police commissioner in the state, Undie Adie, in a press release confirmed the development and said those arrested are in their custody.
He spoke
further;
“We have
been able to arrest some persons at least 10 of them and they are currently
with us.
“It was unfortunate that they were able to have their way in burning down the Sotitobire church but we were able to protect the pastor’s house from being burnt down.
“Vehicles in the compound of the church were damaged but we had been able to move them to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office while investigation proceeds
