Singer, Naira Marley who recently regained his freedom after being arrested and spending several weeks in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has now pledged to help others languishing in prison.

The “Am I A Yahoo Boy” crooner, had revealed that many people are imprisoned for crimes they may not have committed.

Naira Marley, who took to social media to share his thoughts, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection to cybercrime commonly known as “yahoo yahoo” wrote,

“I have to help a lot of people in prison. I met one guy, he has been in prison for nine years but never been to court, as in they haven’t even found him guilty yet. What if he is not even guilty?

“I met another person in jail. He’s been in prison for over two years because he is dating one very rich woman’s daughter and the woman actually locked him up for not leaving her daughter.

“I cannot change Nigeria, however, together we can.”

You’ll recall that Naira Marley’s apprehension came on the heels of his public support of “yahoo yahoo” after he took to his Instagram page to ask his followers to pray for internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo boys.

According to Marley, whoever understands the history of slavery would definitely understand that yahoo boys are never criminals. He, however, went on to state that these yahoo boys should be prayed for and not prosecuted just because they make money circulate in the economy.

Marley was arrested together with Zlatan Ibile, and some others but Zlatan however, regained his freedom some few days after while singer Naira Marley remained in custody. He was later granted bail by the court in the sum of two million naira alongside two sureties of which one must be a landed property owner while the other a civil servant with a minimum grade of level 10.

Meanwhile, Naira Marley was later released after spending 35 days at the Ikoyi prison.
