The Nigerian senate after its sitting today 12 December 2019 directed its Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters to look into the alleged Federal High Court invasion in Abuja by the DSS operatives to rearrest Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and the convener of #RevolutionNow.

The resolution came as a result of a point of order moved by a Senator representing Ekiti Central, Senator Bamidele Opeyemi. The Senator citing order 43 of the House Standing Rules, brought the attention of the upper chamber to the alleged court invasion presided over by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Senator Bamidele while commenting, prayed the house to direct its Committee on National Security and Intelligence to investigate the case to enable the Red Chamber to come to conclusions based on the matter

Ahmed Lawan, the Senate president, said since the matter is a Judiciary matter, the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters under the Chairmanship of Senator Bamidele should look into the matter and report back to the Senate in one week.
