“The
casualty was much because some of the passengers, who are also likely owners of
the yam, were seating on the yam in the open space at the back. Thus, when it
lost control due to over-speeding and poor visibility, (they) fell by its side,
with the yam and vehicle falling on them” Akinbiyi narrated
The PRO said
four of the passengers of the truck lost their lives on the spot, while the
others were taken to Idera Hospital, Sagamu. Those that died were taken to the
FOS mortuary, Ipara Remo. As at the time of this report, the truck has been
towed to the Police Motor Traffic Division, Iperu Remo.
Akinbiyi,
while commiserating with the families of the dead and the injured advised
motorists to ensure their vehicles are well maintained, avoid over-speeding,
and if possible avoid night traveling especially during this harmattan period.
