Tukur Burutai, Chief of Army Staff has said that sacking the service chiefs because of the increased Boko Haram attacks in the country will not put an end to the security challenges in the country.

Speaking to TheCable and THISDAY/ARISE in Lagos on Tuesday 11th February, the COAS said that the President should not be quick into sacking his service chiefs “because he is aware of where the problems are”

Burutai stated further;

“I am tempted not to comment on this particular issue because I am directly involved. However, I want to believe that whatever happens, the commander-in-chief is the right arbiter, and he knows where it pinches, he knows where the problems are. I think the decision should be left to him. He should not be pushed or prompted in this regard

Besides, Burutai said it has been difficult to defeat the insurgency because the indoctrination and brainwashing that formed the group started over 30 years ago

The Chief of Army Staffemphasized that the Nigerian Army has won the battle against the Boko Haram insurgency as they do not control any territory in Nigeria
