A new report
has emerged on the desperation of Manchester United to sign Nigerian forward,
Odion Ighalo.
The English
Club is in dare need of a striker following the three months injury of Marcus
Rashford and the disappointing 2-0 loss to Burnley on Wednesday.
Manchester
United has made Erling Braut Haaland one of their top targets in the January
transfer market but the deal could not hold because of the structure of the
deal.
Sky Sports
reported on Friday that Manchester United have, therefore, approached two
former Premier League players Islam Slimani and Odion Ighalo and want either of
them on a 6-month loan deal. They have included their names on their transfer
sheet.
Ighalo plays
in the Chinese league with Shanghai Shenhua while Slimani is with Leicester but
on loan at Monaco. If the deal pulls through for Ighalo, he will be the first Nigerian
player to play with Manchester United.
Solskjaer
while speaking after the defeat at Liverpool said he will consider temporary
solutions in the loan market.
“It’s
just an unfortunate situation we are in,” he told Sky Sports.
“It
might be because the window is open, that we look at some short-term options.
