Joshua, the reigning heavyweight champion will soon present his belts to the
Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari. This was disclosed by a presidential aide
on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Senior
Special Assistance (SSA) to the president on Media and Publicity, Office of the
vice president, Laolu Akande disclosed this while briefing state house
correspondents on behalf of the sports minister, Sunday Dare.
The briefing
which took place immediately after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC)
meeting presided over by Prof Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday 11 December 2019 in
Abuja. Akande, however, said there is yet to be an agreed date for the
presentation of the belts.
“The council
also showed their gratitude for the gift of books from the Vice President which
has become a yearly tradition,” he said.
Joshua in a couple of days ago defeated Andy Ruiz Jr., through a unanimous points decision in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. The victory made him reclaim the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight world championship belts he lost to Ruiz Jr. in June this year.
