The mother
of the National Chairman Of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajiya Aishetu
Oshiomole, has rejected the Christmas Gifts sent to her son, Adams Oshiomole by
the Governor of Edo State.
The Special
Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication, Crusoe Osagie, while
speaking in Benin on Christmas day disclosed that the conventional Christmas
Gifts meant for past Governors of the state that were sent to Oshiomole’s home
were returned.
He disclosed
that the act is usually an annual ritual by the state government which serves
as an expression of love, further strengthening the relationship between the
people and the government.
Osagie said that messengers from the state government were sent to dispatch the gifts on Christmas Eve. “The messengers said they met the mother of the former governor who rejected the gifts, stating that her son would not accept the Christmas gifts. These gifts include four cows and ten bags of rice”
So, he said these same gifts were also distributed to political appointees, government functionaries, traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, religious leaders, heads of the institution of higher learning, among other prominent people in the society.
Recall that both Obaseki and Oshiomole had been locked in a political tussle over the policies of the governor. Osagie said the governor has set aside the political rift to carry out this yearly ritual.
