The Ondo State police authority in Akure has shut down rumours going around that the body of the missing 1-year old Kolawole Gold, was exhumed from the Sotitobire Miracle Church in Akure.
Several irate youths in Akure besieged the church premises this morning setting it ablaze following the rumours that the body of little Kolawole Gold who went missing in the church in November was exhumed from the church’s altar.
Femi Joseph,
the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command said the rumour is untrue.
Read his statement below;
“The
Ondo State police command wishes to notify the public particularly the
residents of Akure in Ondo State that they should disregard the rumour going
around that body of a recently declared missing boy in the state have been
exhumed from Sotitobire church in Akure.
It is rather
unfortunate that this misleading news spearheaded by a popular TV station has
ignited spontaneous reactions from the irate youths leading to wanton
destruction of lives and properties.
The irate
youths set the church building ablaze. Some officers dispatched to the scene to
calm down the situation were pelted with stones leading to many injuries.
Their patrol
vehicle was also damaged. This rejoinder became important to disabuse the minds
of many Nigerians who might have fallen for this propaganda and wicked lies.
The general public should also not be deceived by reports that the command has abandoned the investigation of the matter, as the case file is already on the way to the DPP for legal advice. However, this latest happening has necessitated more reinforcement to the scene of the incident to contain the situation.
