The Nigerian
Government has disclosed that N620m will be needed to prevent the outbreak of
the deadly Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The virus
has moved from China to other countries and the Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire
has appeared before the Senate Committee on health to intimate the panel on
what the ministry is doing to stop the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The Minister
said the Health Ministry has tendered a memo requesting for the release of
N620m to fight the outbreak of the virus in Nigeria
Also, he
said the ministry had a multi-stakeholder meeting to deploy port health
services to check passengers arriving into the country
However, the
Senate said screenings are not taking place in the Chattered flight passengers’
wing of the local flights that arrived at the airports. The committee said this
oversight could lead to disaster as the virus could gain entry into the country
So, the
Senate has instructed the Health Minister to deploy health officials to the
private wing and carry out screenings of VIPs using chartered flights
