Mompha Freed Upon Meeting Bail Conditions

Ismaila Mustapha also known as Mompha has been freed. This however happened today after perfecting his bail conditions handed over to him at the Lagos High Court.

Mompha was arraigned on 14 count charge of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was accused of indulging in foreign exchange deals without legal authorization from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). This action was, therefore, said to be contrary to section 15(2) and 18(c) of the money laundering Act 2017, hence, he was to be punished under section 15(3).

The Dubai-based Nigerian, Mompha admitted to the #100M which was perfected as he was sported among his friends today having regained his freedom.

In addition, Justice Mohammed Liman ordered the deposit of his passport with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court. Hence, he was also instructed to report every fortnight at the EFCC office as evidence of his presence in the country.
