Mikel Arteta
has been appointed as the new head coach of Arsenal Football Club on a three
and half year deal.
Arteta
resigns his role as the assistant manager at Manchester City FC and takes over
from Freddie Ljungberg, who stood in as interim head coach following the
sacking of Unai Emery at the end of last month.
Freddie
Ljungberg recorded two defeats, two draws, and one victory during his time as
the interim coach.
Mikel Arteta is returning to Arsenal, the same club where he played 150 games between 2011 and 2016, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shields. Pep Guardiola and Manchester City were keen on keeping Arteta at the Etihad Stadium, but the offer from Arsenal proved too enticing for their former midfielder to reject.
