Connor Brown, 22, had his girlfriend’s baby on his lap as he tried to stop her from crying. Unfortunately, the child continued crying and he tried to force the baby’s hand behind her back to stop her from crying but in the process, he caused the hands to snap.
Brown admitted that he assaulted the girl after her mother said she heard a crack in the process of forcing the girl’s hand behind her back.
The
incident took place in the living room of the child’s mother home in Blantyre,
Initially,
Brown told medics the baby had fallen behind a television set but the medical
staff at Hairmyres Hospital in Kilbride became suspicious and went further to
challenge the mother until she admitted that Brown had been responsible for the
incident.
An
examination carried out on the baby’s arms showed that her humerus bones had
been fractured.
The
child had since recovered fully but for both arms that were put in plaster for
several weeks to heal.
Brown also
was questioned and he told police that he was around when the incident happened
but he later claimed that he had taken a seizure only to find out that the
child was injured when he came around.
Brown,
of Larkhall, Lanarkshire, later appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court where he admitted
he was responsible for the assault causing her severe injury in September
2018.
