Killer Disease In Benue Is Not Lassa Fever, It’s Not Ebola, Or Coronavirus, It Is A Mystery – Health Minister

Osagie Ehanire, Nigeria’s Minister of Health said on Friday that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, is working round the clock to reveal the strange disease that killed many people in Benue State.

Ehanire said the NCDC has activated an Emergency Operation Centre, EOC, to direct response activities in collaboration with the Federal Medical Centre, Markudi to determine the nature of the disease. He disclosed that victims of the disease did not show symptoms of Cornavirus or Ebola after medical examinations.

Speaking further, the health minister said soma symptoms shown by the victims include diarrhea, headache, internal heat, vomiting, stomach ache, swollen stomach, and weakness of the body. He advised Nigerians to contact NCDC on a toll-free No 0800970000-10 to report any suspected case.
