Lasser fever
has been discovered in Nassarawa State in a recent outbreak in the country.
Commissioner
of health in Nassarawa State, Mr. Ahmed Yahaya, while speaking to newsmen in
Lafia on Monday 27th January said the patient who resides in
Mararaba in Karu LGA was diagnosed with the disease which was confirmed by the
doctors in Abuja.
He said a
team of health officials has been deployed to communities to monitor and
quarantine those who had contact with the patient to prevent the spread.
The commissioner of health urged residents of the state to ensure good hygiene and keep rodents away from the food. He said health centres are ready to handle and stop the spread of lasser fever.
He said
further;
“We are
aware of the outbreak and have taken measures by deploying doctors and tools to
ensure we curtail further spread of the diseases."
