The federal
government of Nigeria has declared 25th, 26th, December 2019 and 1st January
2020 as public holidays.
In a press
release signed by the permanent secretary in the ministry of Interior, Georgina
Ehuriah, the public holidays are for the Christmas (December 25th), Boxing day
(December 26th) and New Year (January 1st).
According to
the press release, Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of Interior felicitates with
all Nigerians and Christians both home and abroad on this year’s Christmas and
New year celebrations.
The minister
admonished every Christian to live within the teachings and virtues of Jesus
Christ, which is based on compassion, peace, humility, patience, righteousness,
and love for one another. He stated further that doing so would guarantee an
atmosphere of security and peace in the country.
