Emeka Ihedioha Revokes And Renames Jacob Zuma Street In Imo

A Street named after former South Africa President, Jacob Zuma, By the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been renamed in Imo State.

Therefore, Jacob Zuma Road in Owerri will now be known and called Chief Mbazuluike Amaechi Road. Recall that Chief Amaechi is a First Republic minister and parliamentarian. This news came in earlier today at an event to mark Amaechi’s 90th birthday.

So, recall that the naming of the dual carriage road after the South African former president by Rochas Okorocha attracted condemnation from the public. Gov Emeka Ihedioha described Amaechi as an icon whose contributions to nation-building should be appreciated.

"Dr.
Amaechi is an icon, one of the founding fathers of the nation, whose
contributions to nationhood should not be overlooked.  

“Amaechi
remains an inspiration, who stood and defended those principles that remain
valuable to nation-building," the statement further read. 

Amaechi is a native of Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State and was a member of the House of Representatives in 1959.
