The EFCC has begun the process involved in the auctioning of about 244 forfeited vehicles to the Nigerian Government through illegal oil dealings.
So, the process kick-started this Thursday 19 December 2019 by Ola Olukoyede, the commission’s Secretary. He was joined by a team of senior officers of the anti-graft agency. The initial process commenced at the open ground of the Police Officers’ wives Association, GRA, Port-Harcourt.
It is done
by allocating a bidding slot to registered auctioneers. The representatives of
shortlisted auctioneers are present to pick slots from an open container at the
POWA’s ground.
These vehicles have been forfeited to the Government through a ruling of a Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. The order was granted on 5th July 2019 by Justice I. M Sani.
Therefore, the auctioning is being conducted by the EFCC in collaboration with the department of petroleum resources and the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court.
