An LAPD
officer, David Rojas who was accused of fondling a dead woman’s breast has been
charged to court.
David Rojas, 27, faces the risk of been sent to prison for three years if found guilty of having sex with the remains of the dead woman without the knowledge of the authority, said the district attorney of Los Angeles County.
The LA Times
had reported that the veteran cop was placed on leave after his bodycam footage
showed him groping with the breasts of the dead.
The incident
happened when David and his colleague were called to investigate a reported
case of fatality at a residential unit in Los Angeles. On entering the
environment and confirming the death, the partner left the premises to pick up
something from the car.
The accused
police officer turned off his bodycam and before switching it back on, the
device had saved the previous two minutes footage. The device has a two minutes
buffer; it is repeatedly recording videos and audio even when switched off.
The video shows the man lifting the sheet off the woman’s body before touching her nipple and fondling her breast. The incident was revealed during a random inspection of bodycam footage by a supervisor who later went ahead to report the officer.
