A Private University Final Student Sentenced To 13-Years For Money Laundering

Fisayo Adetoro, a Business Administration final year student in a private University in Ondo State was found guilty of impersonation, money laundering, and forgery and sentenced to 13-year in prison and N1,000,000 fine on Thursday 23rd January 2020.

The EFCC in a statement said Adetoro, who is a first-class student with a CGPA of 4.5 Cumulative, was convicted at the Federal High Court 1 in Akure by Justice Folasade Olubanjo in a criminal case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan zonal office.

He was charged on a six-count charge on 18th January but pleaded not guilty to all charges. According to the charge sheet which said that he falsely represented himself as Bawa Mohammed Sanni to dupe his victims to the tune of several millions of dollars.

Also, the convicted student used the fake name to register for a Nigerian Driver’s Licence with his photograph, as well as laundering several millions of dollars’

Justice Olubanjo, however, considered the student for a suspended sentence of six-month community service
