A Nigerian National who had previously served as a priest at a church in Greater Noida has been arrested. He was arrested alongside his accomplice, also from Nigeria, for cloning several plastic cards by fixing secret cameras and skimming devices in ATMs in Delhi.

The two Nigerians were arrested after they were chased near the D1 market in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Friday. They found on them 37 cards that had already been cloned, 10 blank cards, and many devices used to carry out the fraud, reported the deputy commissioner of police (south-west), Devender Arya.

The arrested men were identified as Isaiah Oluwatoyin, 46, and his accomplice, Nosa Tony, 43, who had been promised 2% of all proceeds from the illegal business.

Isaiah has been in India since 2012 on a medical visa, however, he’s been living on an expired visa. Items recovered from him include two passports with different names and numbers with Isaiah’s number.

The deputy commissioner of police hinted that having overstayed his stay, Isaiah tried exporting hair, outside his 2-years at the Greater Noida church; he came in contact with a Bulgarian, Eris, at the airport in 2018.

“The Nigerian learnt card cloning from Eris. They bought a skimming device from an e-commerce platform and got other gadgets from other sources,” Devender said

The culprits would fix the spy camera and a skimming device in unguarded ATMs in Delhi. They would get the data from a card into the skimming device, which would be transferred into a blank card.  The spy camera helped Isaiah know the PINS of the cards, reported the police

The police reported that Tony, who has been living in Gurugram since 2018 on a business visa would help to discreetly withdraw the cash from ATMs or spend the money for online purchases.

They were apprehended on their way to commit a crime, Eris is still on the run.
