Adebola, a US-based Nigerian Muslim took to her Twitter account to express how
she was sent home from work in Fort Worth, Dallas, for putting on the hijab.
The
22-year-old Nigerian lady got converted to Islam in August 2019 just before she
started working at the Chicken Express Restaurant in October 2019.
She narrated
that the day she was sent home was the first time she wore the hijab to the
office. She said that she informed her employer she was a Muslim before she
started working with them.
Adebola shared a short video of how she was confronted by her boss while she pleaded with him saying “the hijab is part of my religion…. I felt like if I work here you all could be able to accommodate my religion”. She said her boss sees things differently as he said that the traditional Muslim headdress is “a different thing” and part of her “personal life out there”. According to him, it has nothing to do with religion
