Arrested Herdsman Admits To Being Drunk And Angry When He Raped 54-Year-Old Woman To Death

Laolu Isa, a 20-year-old herdsman, has confessed to raping to death a 54-year-old Mrs. Mary Okereke in Ebonyi State.

Laolu was paraded at the Ebonyi State Police Command in Abakaliki on Monday 30th December. The suspect said he committed the crime under the influence of alcohol. According to the herdsman, the deceased insulted him and that brought about a struggle between them, he overpowered her, then raped her to death.

The incident happened in Ufuezeraku, Ugwulangwu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Saturday 28th December.

Laolu, while speaking to newsmen said;

” I am Laolu
Isa, I am from Nassarawa. I came to work here in Ebonyi. I was seriously drunk
and saw a woman in the night walking along the road. I approached her for sex
and she started abusing me"
“We started
abusing ourselves and I immediately pounced on her and she started struggling
with me to free herself. I was seriously drunk at that time. As I was on her, a
man who was passing flashed his torchlight on me and I ran away”.
"I don't
know whether I was having sex with her but she was on the ground with me. I did
not hit her with any object but is like I had sex with her for one round. We
were both on the ground when a man flashed a light on me and I ran away".
“I am not
happy with what I did and I want to die. I want to die!, I want to die!! I have
never done this type of thing since God created me on this earth. I am begging
for forgiveness”

The state police commissioner, Awotunde Awosola, while reacting to his arrest said Isa would be charged to court soon.

”On December
28, 2019, at about 8:pm, one Laolu Isa a herdsman aged 20 years accosted and waylaid
one 54 years old Mary Okereke on Ufuezeraku Ugwulangwu road in Ohaozara local
government area. There was a struggle between the two of them but he
overpowered the woman and had carnal knowledge of the woman. Unfortunately, the
woman lost her life during the incident” he said

The commissioner of police added that it was the joint effort of Fulani herdsmen that led to the arrest of Isa who had fled the scene of the incident, abandoning his belongings

Man Jumps Into Lagoon From Third Mainland Bridge Lagos

A man, 22, jumped into the lagoon from the third mainland bridge yesterday. The man identified as Daibo Toju Davies resides at 17, Sosanya street, Gbagada.

A report said that he had engaged the services of an Uber taxi from a hospital before the occurrence. He allegedly stopped the Uber on the bridge pretending to be having a running stomach before plunging into the lagoon.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency public affairs officer, Nosa Okunbor said they are making efforts to rescue the man.

He said;

“He should be in his mid-twenties. He ordered a car-hailing service from Gbagada to the Island. He deceived the UBER driver that he had a running stomach after which he jumped into the lagoon. 

“As I speak with you, the marine unit of the Lagos central zone has been searching for the victim since 11:30 am, but we have not found the body.”

Two luggage with his personal effects and affidavit were discovered on him.

A video has surfaced online showing some policemen arrested by their colleagues for obtaining bribe.

Also, the officers are attached to the Nigeria Police Special Squad ‘Operation Puff Adder’. So, they stormed the spot in patrol their patrol van and arrested the officers collecting bribe at the Ijesha area of Lagos State.
